February 3: Come Learn About Housing!
Meet your neighbours and get the low-down on the upcoming zoning changes
Join us for More Neighbours 101 this Saturday at the Central Library to learn more about our plans for housing advocacy in 2024, and to get to know your fellow pro-housing Calgarians.
We’ve heard from some members of our discord server that they are passionate about the issue, but get lost in the jargon and acronyms of housing (R-CG, MDP, CTP, LAP, IPC, etc…), and don’t feel they know enough about the technical aspects of urban planning to participate fully in the discussion.
It is useful to know a bit about the planning process, especially if you want to advocate for change at city hall. We will provide a short overview on planning and land use, and why we strongly support proposed changes to zoning in Calgary.
The good news though, is that you don’t need to be a professional planner (or even a serious urban hobbyist) to have ideas on how to make our city better. Citizen advocacy is most effective when it relates to someone’s personal experience finding housing, navigating our transit system, or accessing amenities. If you want to learn more about how to be an involved and engaged Calgarian, sign up here:
Snacks and coffee will be provided, and we will head to Two House brewing afterwards for anyone who wants to keep chatting.
See you on Saturday!
